A collection of vintage guitars owned by actor Richard Gere sold for nearly $1 million at auction on October 11. Fetching the highest sum was a 1960 Gibson Les Paul, which drew a winning bid of $98,500.

As reported by Bloomberg News, the proceedings, which were held at Christie’s auction house, were attended by a roomful of guitar aficionados, among them Steve Miller and model-singer-songwriter Karen Elson. “I wasn’t tempted by anything,” Miller said, following the proceedings. “I have 450 guitars.”  more...
