Have you ever trained for a marathon?  Getting ready to go to Bacon Fest is much like a marathon.

Here is my survival guide to Bacon Fest at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark Saturday, November 14th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Planning ahead is essential.  First get your tickets early.  They are just $15 in advance and are available exclusively at Shipton's Big R.

Make a plan and be sure you arrive plenty early. You want to beat the crowd of last-minute arrivals.

Second, if you are bringing a friend, by all means make sure they are a bacon lover and that they are patient.

Don't eat anything heavy just before heading out to Bacon Fest.  If you must eat something, make sure it's light and doesn't fill you up.

You will want to make sure you have plenty of room for all that bacon.  Take a trip around the vendors to see what they have.

It's OK to be choosy. Feast on what you really want first and then nibble on the other samples. I would suggest mixing your sampling up.

Try something with some zip and then maybe something a little sweeter, much like cleansing your palette for the next fabulous bacon experience.

An absolute must is wearing loose clothing.

Never wear tight-fitting clothes, something with elastic is best, as you will need that extra inch or two in the waist line to make it through this bacon frenzy.

When it comes to drinking something, it's recommended to have a beverage on hand.  Sometimes you will just need to wet your whistle.

If water is not your thing you are in luck because there is the Sam Adams Beer Garden and also check out The Montana Distillery Bacon Bloody Mary and Bacon Martini Bar.

The absolute most important advice I can give you is, WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES.

You will need a spring in your step while you "hog" out at Bacon Fest 2015.
