Recently a wreck at an uncontrolled intersection in Billings put a man into critical care. The question being asked now is "Could this have been avoided if there were stop signs at this intersection?"

I want to officially put my vote in for adding more stop signs. I know that there is the theory that people will drive slower through neighborhoods if they have to slow down to make sure there are no cars coming, but if you're going for safety, put the signs up.

If you spend some time driving around in my neighborhood, I guarantee at some point you will encounter a driver who has no idea about the rules of an uncontrolled intersection. You'll see them on your left as you both approach the intersection and wonder "Is this dude going to slow down?" The answer will be no. You will then slow enough to let them cross in front of you in order to avoid an accident and as they pass they will likely look at you like you're a moron who didn't see the stop sign. A scenario like this happens to me at least once a month. I vote for stop signs.
