With official news from the Van Halen camp being extremely thin on the ground, the latest from unofficial fan site VHND.com on the progress of the new album is that it is finished and awaiting mastering.

VHND reports that rumors of delays in the mixing process aren’t true, as mixing began in July and was completed in August. The site reports that the album is scheduled to be mastered in mid-September, and that this should take about a week, meaning that the album should be 100% completed sometime in September.

The site says there is still no word on a definite release date, but promises to provide a more extensive update within a few days.

Meanwhile, MelodicRock.com, who also has a pretty good record for accurate Van Halen news, reports that Van Halen has been offered a headline slot at next year's Download Festival in the U.K., but other European dates are being considered before the band will commit to the festival.
