New Van Halen Album Rumors Continue
David Lee Roth recently let slip that Van Halen is working on a follow-up to 2012′s ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ and although he cautioned fans they’d have to wait awhile, it sounds like the band is making real progress.
The latest news comes courtesy of Mark Tremonti, who’s been playing with Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen in his Tremonti band. In an interview with the VH1 Radio Network, Tremonti said work on his next record could be held up due to Wolfgang’s Van Halen commitments.
“With Wolfgang in the band now, he does a lot of work with Van Halen right now, they’re putting together a new album, so it’s going to be hard to get everybody’s schedules to line up,” said Tremonti, who quickly added that Wolfgang doesn’t give him any special insight into what the new songs sound like. “You know, he doesn’t,” he shrugged. “He just says, ‘Yeah, sounds great, man. Sounds great.’”
Roth predicted “It’s gonna be about 18 months, I think” when he made his comments about the next Van Halen record, which would put it somewhere on the 2015 release calendar — and make for a much faster follow-up than ‘A Different Kind of Truth,’ which served as the group’s first new record in 14 years (and first with Roth in nearly three decades).
