Weekend News Briefs, March 29, 2014-Stacey Rambold Back in The News
Convicted child rapist, Stacey Rambold is back in the news this weekend!
Brief #1: Stacey Rambold was the former Billings Senior teacher sentenced to prison for 15 years by Judge Baugh with all but 31 days suspended for the rape of a minor student, Cherice Moralez who was 14 at the time.
On Thursday, March 27th Tammy Plubell, an Assistant Attorney General filed an appeal brief for the court to impose a four year mandatory minimum sentence for Rambold. Rambold has served his 31 day sentence and is on probation until 2028.
Brief #2: A suspect from an incident that happened in Lockwood at 5:30 a.m. this past Wednesday has been arrested for the home invasion of a residence on Hemlock Drvie. No injuries occurred during the home invasion. 36 year old, Lester McFerran was arrested on March 28th on a burglary charge and is at the Yellowstone County Jail.
Brief #3: Elysian School, 6416 Elysian Road in Billings was built to hold and educate 100 students at a time. During any given school year the school is teaching about 240 students! On March 28th school officials broke ground to expand the school.
The expansion comes in part from the taxpayers vote of the $10.1 million bond in 2013. A remodel of the current building will be complete by August of this year and the new facility will open in August of 2015.
