Wild Fire Season Has Begun In Billings
Billings first grass fire of 2014 was called into the Billings Fire Department on Tuesday, July 8th.The fire call came from the Briarwood subdivision off of McMasters Road which remained closed for a short time. The mop up effort is going now.
This is the fourth day in a row of temperatures reaching into the 80′s and 90′s in some areas around Yellowstone County. It is these dry conditions that residents need to be concerned about the most this summer.
The Briarwood fire was on the cliffs, north of Torrey Pines Drive just off of the 16th green of Briarwood Golf Club. Area residents of the subdivision and golfers around the course had the fire well on its way of being extinguished before fire personnel arrived on scene.
The fire was under control with-in 45 minutes of the 1 p.m. call.
