Humans may share DNA with monkeys, but, if this report out of Indonesia is any indication, our primate cousins couldn't care less.

On Monday, a mob of approximately 10 wild monkeys went on a rampage in Toddang Pulu village in Sidenreng Rappang District, South Sulawesi and -- get this -- broke into homes and savagely attacked residents.

A total of seven people were injured, including a 16-year-old boy who was badly bitten. He's currently being treated for his wounds at a hospital.

Normally, these monkeys avoid human contact our of fear, but this time was different. Authorities are currently investigating what may have prompted the attack, but they don't believe it was due to habitat loss, since the villagers revere the forest in which the monkeys live and still hold rituals there.

Is this the start of a real-life 'Planet of the Apes'? If so, we'd like to pledge our allegiance to Caesar immediately.
