A Huge New Sporting Goods Store is Coming to Billings
A new sporting goods store is coming to Billings later this year.
Montanans love our outdoors, and our outdoor gear. Soon, we'll have another option for everything sports and outdoors related when Dunham's Sports opens its second Montana location in the Rimrock Mall in Billings.
The retailer currently operates approximately 250 locations in the United States, with most stores located in the Midwest and Southeast. It was founded as a bait and tackle shop in West Bloomfield, MI, in 1937. Dunham's opened a location in Havre, MT, last year.

Dunham's sells everything. From field and stream to the soccer field.
I spent some time browsing Dunham's Sports online, and this store carries a ton of stuff. They have everything from camping and fishing gear to baseball cleats and golf clubs, including guns and ammo. Its motto is "Big Names…Low Prices", which is certainly an attractive selling point.
Can Billings support another sporting goods store?
As the largest shopping hub in the state, Billings is blessed to have a humongous Scheels, a Bass Pro Shop (formerly Cabela's), REI, and several smaller sporting goods and outdoor specialty stores.

Scheels and REI are awesome, but both can be a little spendy. Bass Pro Shop is fun too, but their bigger focus is on outdoor gear vs. sports. Dunham's Sports appears to be a nice combination of all three. I'll check them out when they open in Billings, tentatively in September.
On a side note, a major retailer taking over a long-vacant spot at Rimrock Mall should breathe new life into the mall. Perhaps the additional foot traffic will help bring other new stores. Dunham's will surely bring a boost to existing mall tenants.
