Local government bodies are more important the many people realize. The positions may not be very glamorous, but the roles are vital and can have a big impact on local budgets, ordinances, zoning, etc.
Perhaps you have your eyes on a loftier position in politics, like becoming a state legislator or even running for Senate. Heck, aim big and go for the White House! Local politics can be a good venue for launching a lifetime of public service.
Several positions are up for election this year in Billings.
There are six City Council seats on the ballot this year in Billings, with three open races for Mayor, Ward 1, and Ward 5. Incumbents are looking to fend off challengers in Wards 2, 3, and 4.

Billings Chamber Vice President of Business Advocacy Dan Brooks said in a press release, 'Every successful elected official was once a first-time candidate, figuring out how to campaign. Our Candidate School jump-starts that know-how." Candidate School 2025 is free. You can find more details and register for the course HERE.
