On Monday, October 27, 2025, around 5:18 p.m., officers with the Belgrade Police Department responded to a reported disturbance on Crockett Street in Belgrade. What began as a routine call quickly escalated into a serious situation.

Officer Injured and Suspect Killed in Exchange of Gunfire

During the response, an officer involved shooting occurred. One Belgrade Police officer was struck by gunfire and taken to a nearby hospital, where they are currently listed in stable condition. The suspect involved in the incident was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police Confirm No Ongoing Threat to the Community

Authorities have confirmed that there is no ongoing danger to the public. The area has been secured, and community members are being asked to stay clear of Crockett Street while the investigation continues.

State Authorities Now Leading the Investigation

The Montana Department of Justice is leading the investigation into the incident. Officials have not released additional details at this time but say updates will be shared as appropriate once more information becomes available.
