Billings Buccaneers Bash Sinks for the Season
An Unfortunate Update
The crew behind the Montana Renaissance Festival has announced the cancellation of this year’s Billings Buccaneer’s Bash. In a statement shared on its website, the team said the decision didn’t come easily.
As they focus their time and energy on completing Captain Scurvy’s Black Dragon Den and preparing for the All Hallows Medieval Fantasy Faire, they’ve decided to chart a simpler course for the season.
Original Story
Get ready to trade your flip-flops for boots and your sunscreen for swords because the First Annual Billings Buccaneers Bash is setting sail on Friday, July 26th, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at MetraPark!
Hosted by Captain Scurvy and his First Mate, the Lovely Lady Deb, this all-day celebration brings a wave of pirate-themed fun for the whole crew. Whether you’re a salty sea dog or just learning the ropes, you’ll find something to love at this rollicking event.
Ready Your Crew for the Cardboard Boat Race
One of the main events of the day? The Great Cardboard Boat Race. Teams will build their own seaworthy (hopefully) vessels from cardboard and take to the waters in a test of design, bravery, and maybe a little madness. Will your ship float to victory or sink to the depths like a soggy cannonball? Only one way to find out...start building now!
Family Friendly Fun All Day Long
From pirate games and scavenger hunts to costume contests and a Pirate Induction Ceremony, there’s no shortage of things to do for kids and kids at heart. You’ll also find a bustling marketplace with Renaissance-style vendors selling everything from handmade crafts to tasty treats.
Meet the Entertainers Keeping the Party Alive
The Billings Buccaneers Bash isn’t just about pirate costumes and cardboard boats, it’s also bringing some talented performers to MetraPark to keep the energy high. You’ll want to keep your eyes (and ears) open for Joshua the Ventriloquist, whose crew of pirate puppets is as witty as it is wacky. His fast paced banter and spot on ventriloquism might just have you questioning what's real and what's not.

If you're a fan of jaw dropping stunts, make sure you catch Butte Magic’s Eric the Excellent. Known for sword swallowing and a flair for the dramatic, Eric’s performances blend danger, humor, and just the right amount of pirate flair.
For those who love a good tune while sipping something cold, Tramps & Hawkers will be delivering a lively mix of Irish, Scottish, and Celtic melodies with plenty of sea shanties to go around. Their music is the perfect soundtrack for your day of high-seas hijinks.
The Grown-Up Fun Kicks Off at Sundown
As the sun begins to set over MetraPark, the Billings Buccaneers Bash shifts into evening mode, and that’s when the real pirate revelry begins. Starting at 5 p.m., the event transforms into a lively, adults-only celebration filled with music, laughter, and plenty of cheer.
First up is the Pub Sing-Along, where you’ll join your fellow buccaneers in a rowdy chorus of classic tavern tunes and spirited sea shanties. It’s the kind of singalong where everyone’s encouraged to raise their voices and maybe a tankard or two.

Then comes the highly anticipated Rum or Rum Drink Competition. Whether you prefer your rum straight from the barrel or mixed into a fancy pirate concoction, this tasting event is all about crowning the evening’s best beverage.
Live Music from the Legendary Black Murry
As the sun dips low, the energy stays high thanks to Black Murry, a band known for their acoustic storytelling about love, mischief, and mayhem. Their pirate-inspired songs are the perfect soundtrack for a night of dancing, singing, and celebrating.
A Pirate Gathering Like No Other
If this all sounds like your kind of adventure, then don’t wait, buy your tickets now and prepare for a day filled with laughter, spectacle, and maybe a bit of pirate debauchery.

This bash is brought to you by the same crew behind the Montana Renaissance Festival, so you know you’re in for a top-tier experience. So, polish your boots, grab your tricorn hat, and follow the call of the high seas!
