If you were out early yesterday morning in the Heights, you might have noticed a big police presence on Main Street. Around 5 a.m. on October 1, Billings Police responded to not one but two gas station robberies that left employees shaken but thankfully unharmed.

Employee Threatened at 1000 Block Main Street

The first call came from the 1000 block of Main Street. According to police, the suspect walked in, grabbed alcohol, and when an employee tried to intervene, he pulled a gun. After the threat, the suspect took off in a vehicle.

Second Armed Robbery Reported on Main Street

Just a short time later, another call came in from a gas station in the 400 block of Main Street. This time, the suspect again grabbed alcohol, and when employees confronted him, he flashed a gun before leaving the store. Police say he wasn’t alone, two other people were with him when he drove away.

Officers Quickly Identify and Arrest Armed Suspect

Thanks to quick work by Billings Police, and with the help of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, officers were able to identify the suspect. It turned out to be a 17-year-old Billings teen already known to law enforcement and wearing a GPS monitor. By noon that same day, officers found him at a local park, arrested him, and recovered a handgun from the vehicle.

Name Withheld as Teen Faces Charges

The teen is now in Youth Services facing two counts of robbery. Because he’s under 18, his name isn’t being released publicly. Police are continuing their investigation, and more details may come out as the case moves through the system.
