Billings Community Teams Up to Give Seniors a Night to Remember
Every January, a dedicated group of parents from each of five local high schools come together with one mission, and that’s to plan the most unforgettable and safe All-Night Graduation Parties for their seniors.
From the first planning meeting to the final cleanup in June, these parent volunteers put in countless hours. They’re not just planning a party, they’re coordinating fundraising, securing sponsorships, booking entertainment, and making sure every detail is perfect. And when the night is over? They’re the ones sweeping up confetti and wrapping up another successful celebration.
A Tradition That Brings the Whole Class Together
The All-Night Graduation Parties are more than just events, they’re much-loved community traditions. Nearly every graduating senior attends, with participation consistently hitting an impressive 96 to 97 percent. For over 20 years, these parties have given students a fun, exciting, and substance-free way to celebrate their big milestone.
MasterLube: A Founding Friend of Grad Night
The spark for these celebrations began in the early 1990s, thanks to Ralph and Sharon Hanser. After seeing an all-night, alcohol-free graduation bash while on vacation, they brought the idea back to town. With the help of Rich Hall, the very first Ram Jam at Central High was born, and MasterLube was there from day one, with staff volunteering to make it all happen. The next year, MasterLube took it a step further and launched Grad Day, an effort that’s still going strong more than three decades later.
Service with a Smile and Serious Impact
Behind the scenes, a crew of over 60 hardworking men and women at MasterLube take on a huge task each year: servicing nearly 800 vehicles in a single day. It’s a major undertaking, and the energy and dedication they bring are nothing short of inspiring. The result of their hard work? Around $60,000 raised for the grad party committees. That money goes directly to student prizes, food, and entertainment, turning dreams of a perfect night into reality.
It Takes a Village and This One Shows Up Big
From parents to local businesses to the next generation, the All-Night Graduation Parties are a true team effort. Together, they make graduation night something students will never forget, and keep it safe, fun, and full of joy year after year.
