Montana Renaissance Festival: Jousting, Pirates, Fun in Red Lodge

Hear ye, hear ye! The Montana Renaissance Festival returns to Red Lodge on Saturday, June 7th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 8th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it’s set to be bigger, bolder, and more magical than ever.

Whether you're a history buff, fantasy lover, or just looking for a fun weekend with the family, this two-day celebration will transport you into a world of knights, fairies, pirates, and performances that stir the soul.

Entertainment That Wows

From the thunder of hooves in the Order of Epona Jousting to the jaw-dropping flight of birds in Raptors Return, live performances will keep you in awe. The Tortuga Twins bring their legendary blend of comedy and chaos, while warriors from the SCA, Amtgard, and Sunz of Odin deliver battle demonstrations you won’t forget.

Street performers and musicians pop up throughout the grounds for delightful surprises around every corner.

Kids (and the young at heart) will love the Fairy Induction Ceremony with Queen Rose and her Seelie Court, while those craving the call of the sea can join Captain Scurvy and Crew aboard a 40-foot pirate ship for mischief and mayhem.

I fake my bird knowledge.

When we happen to spot a tall bird wandering in a marshy area, I'll say to my spouse, "Look! There's a loon!" but it could very well be a crane.

Like most Montanans, I can recognize bald eagles, wild turkeys, robins, Canadian geese, a few types of ducks, etc., but most of the time when we see a big, unusual-looking bird on our adventures, I'm lost.
