There have been plenty of written stories that are set in the Treasure State, because the setting of Montana is usually met with praise for beautiful descriptions of the land and the citizens. A new book written by someone who you wouldn't expect brings on other important issues, such as independence, in a short coming of age story. Here's everything we know so far before reading People Mover by John David Card.

The Novella is Set in Small Town Montana

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Card talks about the general point of the story, which sees a young girl from rural Montana traveling North on Interstate 15 to try and make it past the Canada border into Alberta "on her own terms". Card states in the video the story has a simple premise, but there is more to the story than the size may suggest.

This novella looks interesting to me, but I'd never heard of John David Card. They aren't from Montana, but from Australia. Card states that in an Instagram post that the reason for the writing of People Mover was based solely on personal interest alone. It is unknown if Card has ever visited Montana, but we definitely think they should.

People Mover was originally released Online

The same video discusses how Card hadn't really done a non-fiction story before. The novella was originally released chapter by chapter online, with public interest being "modest but devout". Soon after, after some tweaks, Card published the book independently. You can purchase the book online for only $10. Does it sound interesting? It definitely does to me, but I have to read some other books first before I can get to this one.

What do you think about the premise of this novella? I'm excited to read it myself once I'm finished up with The Soul Mage Saga. The link to purchase People Mover can be found right here, if you're interested.

Vintage Photos Of Montana

It's hard to imagine what Yellowstone National Park would look like in black and white. We are so used to seeing the colors that make it one of America's favorite travel destinations. Jezel Doughert's grandmother passed away and like many of us do, she spent hours going through years and years of history, from old yearbooks to news clippings, to pictures. Jezel sent me a piece of history that, if not for her, I wouldn't be able to share with you.

This Family Friendly "Montana Town" Is Frozen In Time

One of the coolest places to check out in Montana is the "Old Montana" town of Nevada City. Located just on the other side of Virginia City, Nevada City is the perfect example of what life was like back during the gold rush in the 1800s.

With several different buildings to tour and friendly folks to guide you through your visit, as well as tell you the stories of the times, Nevada City is not only educational but fun for the whole family.
