I'm up here in Northeast Montana at the Farm Expo in Plentywood. During the drive up I made some phone calls to try and figure out what happened in Poplar, Montana earlier this week. So here is a quick post to tell what I gathered.

What happened in Poplar, Montana on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation?

I placed a call to Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement (referred to them by sheriff) and haven't heard back yet. From what I can gather the rumor is that there was some sort of a lockdown after concerns that cartels were posing an immediate threat. Whether that was the case or not- here's what I see as the good news: locals are vigilant and on high alert, and if they get even a whiff that cartels are about to do something- the word spreads like wildfire right now.

That was what I shared on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.

Here's what I then found from the Fort Peck Tribal Law Enforcement Facebook page.

**** INFORMATIONAL RELEASE ****
Information was received in regards to a threat to the tribal jail. Law enforcement was notified and provided extra patrol.
The community was not put on notice, because the threat was only on a hearsay basis and was believed to be a rumor only. The community is not considered to be in danger.
Investigative measures are enacted, but Law enforcement does not believe there is a danger from the threat.
Thank you for the communities assistance and understanding. Forever remain diligent.
