‘Parks and Recreation: Could Bill Murray Be Pawnee’s Mayor?
'Parks and Recreation' has played host to a number of distinguished guest stars over five seasons, this year alone bringing the likes of Jason Schwartzman, 'SNL's' Jenny Slate, Newt Gingrich, Joe Biden, Lucy Lawless, ‘Breaking Bad‘s’ Jonathan Banks and Glenn Headly. But with rumors surrounding 'Parks and Recreation's' likely renewal for a sixth season, could the series tap its biggest guest star yet as Pawnee's Mayor? Find out if Bill Murray will make a 'Parks and Recreation' appearance inside!
For all of 'Parks and Recreation's' five seasons and Leslie Knope's political ascent to Pawnee's City Council, it's surprising to think in all that time we've never met the eccentric Indiana town's Mayor. No casting decisions have yet been announced, nor has an appearance from the Pawnee politician been written into the current season, but series star Amy Poehler has her own perfect casting choice for the as-yet-unseen figure: comic legend Bill Murray!
Speaking to EW at Sundance with 'Parks and Recreation' co-star Adam Scott, Poehler joked that "I want Bill Murray to play the mayor, and I just dream about it every night. I whisper it to a bird and then I open the window and the bird flies away to Bill Murray’s house and just sits on his window and goes cocoooo-cocooooo, and hopefully it just transmits into his brain."
Whether or not Bill Murray heeds the call, Scott at least revealed that an upcoming episode would see Leslie and Ben traveling to Ben's hometown of Partridge, Minnesota, where they'd meet the town's mayor as played by recognizable comic star J.K. Simmons.
What say you? Do you think Bill Murray's eccentric history of appearances could take him to 'Parks and Recreation' next? Who would you like to see appear on the series? Sound off in the comments!
