Montana National Guard

The men and women of the Montana Army National Guard's 163rd Combined Arms Battalion and 631st Chemical Company are finally coming home. Big homecoming ceremonies are planned for Thursday in Bozeman and Missoula, along with smaller contingents at airports across the state.

"During the flood rescue and recovery operations that occurred in June of this year, Mr. Ewald allowed the Montana Army National Guard to use his hanger facility at the Red Lodge airport and provided a variety of logistical support to the aircrews conducting rescue operations."

A woman from Townsend, Montana, and a member of the Montana Army National Guard has now completed both Ranger School and Airborne training with the US Army.

This guys is about as Montana as it gets. A rodeo cowboy. An Army Ranger. And a helicopter pilot who fights fire for his day job. This guy and his family has had to Ranger Up and Cowboy Up on more than one occasion.

I imagine there's a lot of folks who were camping or stranded by floodwaters in the Red Lodge, Montana area the past few days who will never forget the sound of a Chinook helicopter.

"That's why my guys train. That's why they joined the National Guard." Lt. Col. Noah Genger is the commander of the 189th Aviation Battalion in the Montana Army National Guard.

Major General Pete Hronek is the Adjutant General of the Montana National Guard. He recently visited troops from several Montana units currently deployed in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
