A gusty cool front will slam into Montana tonight (Tuesday) and Wednesday, bringing an increased risk of wildfires for the next few days.

This cold front is most definitely going to bring rain, however, it could also bring the city's first snowfall of this year's season. We really hope you are able to find your trusty winter coats.

One of the hottest days of the year with a threat of fire weather will be followed by a big temperature drop for Billings over the next 48 hours.

It's fire season in Montana and we'll hear Red Flag Warnings almost daily. Interestingly, the warnings were never really meant for the general public.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Yellowstone County, and most of southeastern Montana, with conditions elevated for fire weather on Wednesday (9/15).

Yellowstone County, along with almost every other county in Montana, is under a Red Flag Warning for Fire Weather on Tuesday, June 15th. Dangerous fire conditions exist across the state.

High temperatures, low humidity, windy conditions, and possible thunderstorms are creating "critical fire weather conditions" for Billings and the surrounding area.

Wednesday (9/4) could be the hottest day of the year in Billings. Some forecasts predict it could hit 103 in the Magic City, with no chance of rain. High wind gusts are also likely on Wednesday making conditions perfect for wildfires.
