Photo memes are nothing new. Historians appear to agree that this whole thing began with the viral craze "planking" which had people laying stomach down and rigid in some very strange places. Planking in turn gave way to owling, tebowing, and it continued to morph from there. In fact the whole thing inspired an entire episode of "South Park". But the Internet is not a patient B
