Spanish doubloons or Civil War-era gold bars probably won't be found in Montana, but one metal detectorist in Big Sky County is finding interesting stuff in lakebed swimming holes.

Always remember when hunting for gems and rocks, that people have been to these sites for decades unearthing these specimens.

Unpolished, they're not really worth anything. Sliced and polished they're worth maybe a couple of bucks. They're not exactly rare, but it's the fun of finding them that I enjoy.
