This past weekend, I headed out to the Roxy Theater in Missoula to enjoy some highbrow, intellectually stimulating entertainment (I went to see Jackass Forever), and while I was there, I saw a trailer for a movie I hadn't heard much of up until now. Which is sort of a surprise, considering it actually filmed in Montana, and its subject is a pretty high-profile true crime case.

You know, unless you don't consider Ted Kaczynski - aka the Unabomber - to be a high-profile case.

A New Ted Kaczynski Movie Was Filmed in Lincoln, Montana

Ted Kaczynski, famous for sending at least sixteen bombs over the course of nearly 20 years that killed three people and injured 23 more, is the subject of a new movie which chronicles the events leading up to his arrest in 1996.

In the movie, Kacynski is played by Sharlto Copley, the South African actor who broke out in 2009 as the lead character in District 9, and has since gone on to star in films like ElysiumEuropa ReportMaleficentFree Fire, and Hardcore Henry.

And while it would have been easy to film the movie - which is called Ted K - on a backlot somewhere or try to pass off some other part of the country as Montana, the filmmakers decided to actually shoot the film in and around Lincoln, where Kaczynski actually lived, for extra authenticity.

Ted K is set to be released on February 18th, and based on the fact that I saw the trailer playing before Jackass Forever, you'll likely be able to watch it at the Roxy Theater. You can check out their website for the latest updates.
