MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Montana health officials say a seventh case of whooping cough has been confirmed in Missoula County.

KTMF-TV reports that the Missoula City-County health department is still following up with more than 300 people who may have been exposed to the highly contagious respiratory disease.

According to Missoula Health officials, all seven cases confirmed are people between the ages four and 16. At least three of the cases are students from one high school.

The department reports there is a mix of unvaccinated and vaccinated children among the cases.

The agency is working directly with the affected families and the schools the ill children attended to identify close contacts.
