'Arrow' fans were thrown a 'Dark Knight' curve ball when famed Batman villain Harley Quinn made a brief appearance (well, at least her voice did) in the "Suicide Squad" episode, which saw folks like Bronze Tiger and Deadshot teaming up at the government's behest. However, thanks to Mr. Deadshot himself, we have our first real look at Harley Quinn, as portrayed by actress Cassidy Alexa -- and we're not just talking about a brief glimpse at her back and nails, either.

Michael Rowe, who plays the villainous Deadshot on 'Arrow,' released a cast photo from the set of The CW's DC Comics-based series of (L to R) John Diggle, Shrapnel, Lyla, Deadshot, Harley Quinn(!!!), Amanda Waller and Bronze Tiger.

The episode in question, "Suicide Squad," saw Diggle (David Ramsey) getting recruited by Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and A.R.G.U.S. to stop a warlord (Lee Majdoub) he knew from his time in Afghanistan. Always the solider, Diggle agreed to help. However, he was not prepared when Amanda introduced him to the rest of the team – Deadshot (Michael Rowe), Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White) and Shrapnel (Sean Maher).

As executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Collider in an interview, he only intended Harley Quinn's cameo to be an Easter Egg to excite fans of the Bat-universe, never anticipating the true power of the internet to insight fan frenzies and blow things out of proportion. He previously said of the episode in question, "She was always intended to be an Easter egg. I don’t want people to go in with incorrect expectations and walk away from Episode 16 disappointed. But there is an element to the Easter egg that was not spoiled by the promo, that I think people will find a lot of fun."

While it's unclear how closely 'Arrow' ties into the Batman universe beyond simply acknowledging its existence with Harley Quinn, might we possibly see her join the "Squad" in coming episodes? In case you missed her cameo, watch Quinn on 'Arrow' season 2 episode "Suicide Squad" in the clip below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
