Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers Booked for Kids Rock Free Fundraiser in California
On July 28 in Corona, California, Rodgers will perform a benefit show for Kids Rock Free, a music education program he’s been supporting since 2003.
Proceeds from the concert, taking place at the Fender Center, will help provide students age 7 to 17 with free and low-cost music lessons, and that’s something Rodgers feels is important.
“Without music in [a school] curriculum, there is a void for young people to express, explore and experience music,” Rodgers said in 2010, when he matched the money raised from the memorabilia he donated for KRF’s cause. “If not for music in my life as a young person, who knows where I would have focused my energy.”
Backed by former Heart guitarist Howard Leese and other musicians, Rodgers is expected to perform a mix of material from the Free and Bad Company catalogs, plus songs from other points in his career. The show will be filmed for future broadcast on the MAVTV network, which airs the Kids Rock Free concert series.
