Fire Prevention Week

The Billings Fire Department is welcoming everyone to visit Fire Station 1, at 2305 8th Avenue North, this Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 2 pm for their open house and community safety day.

Fire Chief Pepper Valdez and Assistant Fire Chief Matt Hoppel are planned to be on-site to answer fire department questions and have general chats during "Coffee with the Chief".

You can expect multiple topics to be discussed, such as distracted driving, outdoor awareness, transportation safety, hands-only CPR, safe sleep, smoke alarms, Project Eyes on the Block, and the Billings Police Department's DUI Task Force.

Texting & Driving Safety Course

If you choose to at the event, you can get behind the wheel of a golf cart and learn the dangers of texting and driving with St. Vincent Healthcare's Distracted Driving Course. It's open to people aged 13 and older, though if you are under 18, you need parent or guardian approval.

Adults are welcome to try the course on their own or ride as a passenger with their teen through the course.

Winston The Fire Dog

Also at this event since his big debut earlier this year, Winston the Fire Dog will be on site. Winston is the first therapy dog for the Billings Fire Department.

When And Where

The Open House and Community Safety Day is this Saturday, October 7th from 10 am to 2 PM at Fire Station 1, 2305 8th Avenue North in Downtown Billings.
