Billings Police Warning Citizens of Phone Scams

This just in from the Billings Police Department:

Today, around 1:20 PM, BPD announced they received complaints of a male using BPD Commander's names, calling females in the area, and trying to get those females to meet him to receive unknown paperwork.

The names being used are Sgt. Justin Jagers, Sgt. Sam Puckett, and Sgt. Nate West.

Do Officers Call People?

Officers, on occasion, DO contact citizens by phone, however, if you are unsure about a call you receive from someone claiming to be BPD, it is recommended you advise them you are contacting BPD Dispatch to verify the person is with the Billings Police Department.

BPD wants to remind everyone to not meet with anyone you have NOT verified as an actual officer, and BPD will never attempt to get you to post a bond or pay fines over the phone.

If you receive one of these calls, BPD Dispatch is 406-657-8200 and is happy to verify whether or not that call is from BPD.
