Update 1/17/24 4:45 PM:

BPD has released the following statement:

On January 17, 2024, at approximately 8:57 am Officers with the Billings Police Department responded to a weapons complaint at a residence in the 800 block of Lewis Avenue.

Officers were advised a subject was armed with an edged weapon and had barricaded himself in the residence. Officers arrived and were able to make contact with the victims and get them out of the residence safely.

The subject remained barricaded in a room within the residence and was non-compliant. BPD SWAT, drone, and negotiators were all called to the scene and began working to contain the suspect, make contact with him, and work towards a resolution. At approximately 11:45 am the suspect surrendered without incident.
The suspect, identified as Isaiah Little Light, a 28-year-old local male was arrested and transported to the Yellowstone Detention Facility on the charges of two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of misdemeanor assault, one count of criminal mischief, and one count of resisting arrest.

Today, around 10:20 AM, BPD announced there was an active incident around the 800 block of Lewis Avenue.

The call was for an assault with a weapon.

At the time, BPD asked the community to steer clear of the area until the incident was resolved, and there was no known threat to the public.

Update

Around 11:45 AM today, BPD announced the suspect had been arrested on the scene without incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and we will update this article as more information is released.
