Billings TrailNet “switches gears” for a VIRTUAL Tour de Fleur in May

Event opens to men and women who want to walk, run, or roll (on wheels) to participate

Billings TrailNet urges everyone in the Billings Community to get ready to walk, run or ride in the Tour de Fleur during the entire month of May.

Billings TrailNet is observing strict social distancing based on up-to-date instructions from health officials, but the trail funding organization want to promote the joy of bicycling, running and walking by producing a Tour de Fleur virtual event where everyone can participate.

The Tour de Fleur will be open for all ages and genders, who are encouraged to join in the celebration of spring and being outdoors by registering at www.tourdefleur.org.

Billings TrailNet reminds the public that the organization relies on funds raised at the Tour de Fleur in order to build trails and continue their mission.  But because this is a virtual event, they ask that participants make a donation to register and participate in the Tour de Fleur.

While some people may prefer to stay indoors during the social distancing time, Billings TrailNet has also provided a way for them to participate by decorating their windows at home with flowers.

All registered participants will be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift certificate at Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers, plus there will be prizes for pictures posted of participants sharing in the following categories:

any participating walker
any participating cyclist
-MORE-

any participating runner
any participating roller blader
anyone participating in wheelchair
most beautifully decked out dog participating with their owner
most beautifully decorated bike
best Tour de Fleur participant video shared on social media
most beautifully decorated for Tour de Fleur neighborhood window
happiest family participating, on a trail

To be eligible for the “most beautiful” prizes, participants must be registered for the event and share their photos on social media with the hashtag, “#billingstdf2020,” or email a photo to membership@billingstrailnet.org.

Prizes will be gift cards at participating sponsor Shops at Shiloh: (Neecee's, Bumps n' Bundles, Maurice's, Riddle's Jewelers, Glass Specialists, Your Pie, Jiffy Lube, Orange Theory Fitness, South Harper and EverFit Montana); plus Parasol Restaurant and Crepe Diem.

All participants are encouraged to post photos on social media with the hashtag #billingstdf2020.

The Tour de Fleur virtual event kicks off Sunday, May 3, but participants can walk, run or roll any day in May. For suggested routes and more information, see their webpage, www.tourdefleur.org.
