Fire North Of Billings Causes Evacuation Of Longhorn Subdivision

Update:

The Yellowstone County Emergency & General Services Facebook has announced the evacuation notice has been canceled.

At last notice, the forward progress of the fire had been stopped, and firefighters plan to be on the scene overnight to clean up.

A grassfire has started north of Billings, to the east of Highway 87 North.

Billings Police Department, Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, Billings Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation are on the scene.

An evacuation order has been issued for the Longhorn Subdivision.

If you reside in the area, no dedicated evacuation location has been established at this time.

Please gather essential belongings, and leave the area immediately.

BPD will announce when the fire has been contained, and we will update this article.
