Have you noticed the prices of fast food lately? It has been getting out of hand. What was once an option for food that was budget-friendly, now it is a luxury to order fries SUPER-SIZED.

McDonalds has been accused of participating in "shrinkflation." Serving up burgers that are much smaller than they used to be, but for the same price.

Now, McDonalds is finding themselves in a pickle...

The CDC has confirmed that an E. coli outbreak is spreading. Putting over 50 people in the hospital. All patients recall eating a Quarter Pounder from McDonalds. The chain has looked into the situation and has traced it back to the slivered onions on the burgers.

According to the CDC

In the Contaminated Food Section, CDC added a list of states where McDonald's removed slivered onions and beef patties. States: Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

McDonald's has pulled the Quarter Pounder from Montana's menus—the company's 2nd biggest seller.

One death has been reported in Colorado. 50 more have been hospitalized. So far, no cases have been reported in Montana.

Most people infected with E. coli experience severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting.

  • Symptoms usually start 3 to 4 days after swallowing the bacteria.
  • Most people recover without treatment after 5 to 7 days.

The President of McDonalds was on the Today Show and says he is confident that the issue has been handled and that the product affected has been completely work out of the food supply chain.
