Check Your Freezer, Montana: Product Sold at Costco May Contain Shards of Glass
Less than a week ago, I wrote about a recall of Walmart-brand cottage cheese. We do buy cottage cheese occasionally, so when I got home from work that evening, I checked our fridge and confirmed we hadn't purchased any recently.
Then, last night, as I was checking and clearing my Inbox, I read this email from Costco:
Dear Costco Member,
Costco records indicate that you, or one of your add-on members, have purchased item #1081557 Ajinomoto Shoyu Ramen Bowl between 12/01/2024 – 03/01/2026.
Ajinomoto Foods North America in cooperation with the USDA announced a voluntary recall of select lots of Shoyu Ramen Bowl due to the potential presence of glass in the product. The affected products are coded with Best By dates ranging from 20 MAY 2026 through 05 JUL 2027

Return any unused product for a refund.
The company says there have been no confirmed reports of injuries related to the recalled product, and if you haven't consumed the entire package yet, you can bring it back to the store for a refund.
I bought these noodle bowls for light lunches at work, or a quick, relatively satisfying meal at home when I don't feel like cooking. I thought the chicken pieces were kind of weird (chicken sometimes grosses me out), but the bowls weren't too bad. Especially if you drop some sesame oil and hot sauce on top.
I think there were eight bowls in the pack, and I've already consumed most of them - thankfully without glass pieces.
Other active food recalls.
In addition to the Great Value brand cottage cheese mentioned earlier, there are several more recent active food product recalls listed on the Food and Drug Administration's website. Including,
- Savanah Bee Company BBQ sauce
- Rhino Choco VIP 10X chocolates
- Quest frozen chicken cat food
- Boner Bears chocolate syrup
It seems like there are always a lot of food recalls (and they can be alarming), but when you think about the millions of products that are commercially produced each day, I guess the percentage of potentially dangerous foods is quite small.
