Billings Tea Party Returns With Mimosas, Brunch, and a Mission

If you're looking for a reason to put on a nice hat and pour yourself a proper cup of tea, Code Girls United has one for you. The Billings-based nonprofit is bringing back its "Tea Time at Hilands" fundraiser for a second year, and it's the kind of event where the mission actually matches the mood.

Billings Tea Party Set for Hilands Golf Club

The event lands Saturday, September 12, at 11 a.m. at Hilands Golf Club. Guests can expect an English-style tea service alongside a full brunch buffet, sweet treats, raffle prizes, and silent auction items donated by local Billings businesses. There's also a mimosa bar for anyone 21 and up.

Billings Fundraiser Proceeds Support Code Girls United

Every dollar raised goes straight to Code Girls United's afterschool programs here in Billings. Fund Development Director Melissa Dunning said last year's event set the tone for what they're hoping to build on.

"Tea Time was a blast last year, and we can't wait to see families, friends, and co-workers gather again," Dunning said. "This is the perfect time to enjoy a fall brunch all while supporting the Code Girls United mission of empowering girls with technological literacy. The CGU Billings team is grateful for your continued support."

Tickets are available now through the CGU website, and there's discounted pricing for Code Girls students and their family members, so this isn't just an event for supporters watching from the sidelines. It's built to include the girls the program actually serves.

Code Girls United Afterschool Programs in Montana

Code Girls United has been at this since 2016, running free afterschool programming for fourth through eighth-grade girls, along with Tribal high school girls, across Montana. The girls in the program learn to build real-world apps for phones, tablets, and computers, but the curriculum stretches well beyond code. Team building, presentation skills, and foundational STEM concepts are all part of the mix.

To date, the program has reached more than 600 students and handed out 126 scholarships. That's a lot of girls in Montana who've gotten a head start on skills most of us didn't touch until well into adulthood, if ever.
