Bobby Hauck's Sudden Departure from Illinois

Well, that certainly didn't last long.

If you remember after the football season wrapped up last year, Montana Head Coach Bobby Hauck announced that he was retiring. Only to take a job a few days later as the Defensive Coordinator at the University of Illinois.

Saturday Illinois played Ohio State and lost to the Buckeyes by a score of 42 to 19. Sunday Hauck was unemployed.

According to multiple media reports Hauck and Illinois "parted ways" after the loss to Ohio State. however, in my experience, parting ways is a fancy term for being let go. While I certainly take no pleasure seeing a man lose his job, I know that many Bobcat fans will poke fun and enjoy this JUST a little bit, but I say let's give the guy a break. I mean, rumors are that his inability to beat the Cats the last couple of years lead to his leaving Montana, and to decide to "part ways" after just four games at the new gig, that's rough.

Now is not the time to kick a man while he's down...ok, maybe just a little.

So, what's next for Hauck? Well he return to the state of Montana or will he see if he can't find a new gig somewhere? It's certainly worth watching to see where he lands next. Will it be another team or is he done with football?

Fans of expressed mixed emotions over Hauck. They guy is 62, maybe it's time to retire and call it a career. Either way, as a Cat Fan, it was always a little more fun beating the Griz when he was the Coach.
