Last week a neighbor asked me for any information on the thirty police cars on our little street in the late night.  I admitted to sleeping through all that and she mentioned some road rage incident and the police were combing the neighborhood.

Well now I have a news update.

After a week-long investigation, Billings Police have arrested 25-year-old Tyler Dillon on charges of assault with a weapon, criminal endangerment and eluding a peace officer.

According to the BPD press release, the road rage incident began on Wednesday, October 2nd around 11:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Wicks Lane and St. Andrew's Drive (within walking distance of my home).  The suspect Mr. Dillon struck another vehicle with his car, but instead of calmly calling police and insurance, he pulled out a firearm and shot at the passengers of this other car.  He then sped off.

That brought the attention of a lot of police.  Didn't take long to find the suspect car, at which point a high-speed chase through the Heights ensued.  Perhaps a blessing of the late night was that almost no pedestrians were about.  Spike strips halted the car racing, but then the pursuit on foot started.  Dillon sprinted into an apartment complex and disappeared.  Officers conducted a search about the Heights hoping he would emerge.

Mr. Dillon might have thought he got away with it all.

Billings Police continued the case with good old-fashioned detective work.  Not as exciting, but with patience and tenaciousness can get to the same result.  They were able to identify Dillon, find him again and this time make the arrest.

Tyler Dillon now keeps a seat warm at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility.

Maybe he'll pick up some anger management skills while in the prison system.
