Are You Listening to Montana’s Highest Streaming Spotify Artist?
Not to get all "Generation X-ey" on you, but there really are more ways to discover music now than ever before. I grew up listening to the radio (and being at the mercy of repetitive playlists generated by corporate programming consultants). Of course, I also had a cassette collection... followed by an even more impressive CD library a few years later, finally migrating to MP3s. Good times.
Now your choices are much more diverse.
You've got Spotify, Pandora, Alexa's virtually endless library of musical genres (with Amazon Prime), Apple Music, and more. Toms Guide.com ranked some of the best music streaming services for 2022 HERE. And you can get our Mobile App (enter a phone number below) if you'd like to take this radio station with you anywhere.
Who is the most-played Spotify artist in Montana?
A Reddit thread from r/MapPorn shared an image this week that portrays the most-played Spotify artist in each state. Kalispell-born and Butte-raised Tim Montana took the top spot in the Treasure State for the most listened-to Spotify artist of all time in Montana, with 29 million listens.
A Montana music success story.
Yes, his name is really Tim Montana. He's performed with the likes of ZZ Top and lists Dave Grohl as one of his buddies. His country/rock sound is catchy and I do like his music. Montana's video for the 2020 track Mostly Stoned was directed by his pal Charlie Sheen.
29 million streams is a lot. But other states' numbers are mindblowing.
Nearly 30 million listens (in Montana alone) is certainly impressive, but when you see the top Spotify artists in other states, the numbers are wild. For example, Taylor Swift has a lifetime stream number of over 27 BILLION in Pennsylvania. Local favorites seem to be top streams in a number of states, with Macklemore ranked #1 in Washington (8.05B), Chris LeDoux is #1 in Wyoming (120M) and Blake Shelton scored over 3.1 billion Spotify listens in Oklahoma to date.
