It seems like the majority love to grumble about the way the City of Billings operates. It's far easier to complain or armchair quarterback the issues than it is to actually do something about it. Elected city council members certainly have the biggest impact on how the community operates, but much of the legwork and input is handled by various committees and boards.

Your opportunity to make a difference.

In a press release last week, the City announced they have a whopping thirty-seven vacant positions on various boards and committees. Volunteering to serve a term offers unique insight into City government operations. City Administer Chris Kukulski said,

It gives an opportunity for citizens to have a significant impact on decision-making and allows us to hear from and learn what our community members think about certain issues.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply and be able to make a commitment for four years. You also must reside in Billings. There is no compensation and you can plan on attending one meeting per month on average. Below is a sample of some of the open positions.
