Inspiring Crow Nation Celebration for New Childcare Center
Pretty soon, Crow Agency will transform into the teepee capital of the world. If you wanted to get a taste of just how incredible Crow Fair will be next month, you should have been in Crow Agency, Montana Tuesday night.
I was heading to Hardin for an event at the Outlaws Cafe. I shot a note to a few friends to let them know I'd be in town. That's when I got a message back from the great CJ Stewart. He served in the Crow Legislature, now serves as the Energy Director for the Crow Nation, and is one of the leading voices for our nation when it comes to energy projects on tribal lands.
He told me to head over to Crow Agency after our event in Hardin, and boy am I glad I did. Earlier that day, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Apsaalooke Childcare Center. Afterwards, they had a song and dance celebration under the Crow Fair Arbor.
It was an incredible way to celebrate the new childcare center. I was also inspired once again at how a nation, the Crow Nation specifically, honors her warriors.
The announcer described the color guard: An Army Vietnam vet up front...3 Army vets and a Navy vet holding the flags for the color guard. CJ told me how the Creator showed them favor by protecting them and bringing them home, and the dancers are here to honor them and carry that favor over to the people. (I hope I captured that right)
Here's some more photos from CNN- the Crow Nation News! They also streamed video of the celebration.
