Like Montana Hockey? Signal Peak Coal CEO Makes a Great Point

In case you missed the big news last week, we told you about how Signal Peak Energy is donating $6 million to help build a new hockey arena in Billings, Montana. Signal Peak operates the Bull Mountain coal mine south of Roundup.

After sharing the great news about the new hockey arena and the big donation by Signal Peak Energy, Phipps made a great point when it comes to the radical environmental groups that are constantly protesting or filing lawsuits against important projects and jobs in our natural resource industries here in Montana.

Parker Phipps: "Guys, having a having a coal mine in your community is a good thing. I mean, you have the jobs that come from the mine operating- all the downstream jobs from the rail to the power utilities and everything else. But what has MEIC and Northern Plains Resource Council done for your community? Do you ever see a youth soccer team or any youth activity with MEIC on the back of the jersey? These out of state people with money come in, pay attorneys, and try and take good paying rural jobs out of Montana. Having a coal mine is a good thing. We want the people of Yellowstone County and Musselshell County to be proud that they have a coal mine in their community."

What a a great message. I think about not only the attacks against the Bull Mountain Mine near Roundup, but I also think about the attacks against Colstrip. What about the natural gas power plant in Laurel? These out of state funded radical environmental groups are trying to shut down all of this. These radical environmental groups- they're lining their own pockets while they try to shut you down, to shut down our jobs. What have they what do they do for us?
