Cat-Griz Baby! We have a big Cat-Griz matchup taking place in Boise, Idaho Wednesday night- and the winner earns a spot in the NCAA tournament...March...you know what.

I know basketball doesn't get shown the love that football gets in the Fall here in Montana- especially when it comes to the legendary Cat-Griz game between The Montana State Bobcats and The University of Montana Grizzlies, but this is very cool news.

With the Big Sky Conference tournament underway in Boise, Idaho- the Cats and the Griz will go head to head for the conference title and a spot in the big tournament. This, after Montana defeated Idaho State on Tuesday night 72-58. Montana State beat Sacramento State 74-71.

The Big Sky Conference says this is the first Cat-Griz matchup since 1986!

Are you gonna stay up late and watch the game? If so, send us your updates because that is a late night for us early morning radio guys.

My fellow UM alumni friend Brad said this:

Do I stay up until 11:30 EST to watch it from Ohio?
Uh yes.

Evan Wilson says Go Griz, while Arlin in NE Montana says Go Cats.

As Mateo reports from Boise, the conference action is great for downtown Boise, Idaho's economy.

I know we get a lot of readers from Texas and Utah too- and you have your rivalries...but we happen to love the Cat-Griz rivalry here in Montana.

And to my fellow UM alums: yes, I call it Cat-Griz. That's what we always called it. Let me just put that out there before all the- "It's Griz-Cat" messages start flowing in.

As we mentioned, the Cats and Griz last met in the conference championship in 1986. How'd that go back then? According to MontanaSports.com:

The only other time the Cats and Griz have played in the conference championship game was 1986 in Reno, Nevada. MSU won 82-77.

The game is at 9:30 p.m. Mountain/ 8:30 p.m. Pacific.
