The Associated Press is reporting that Gibson signature artist Slash will make a guest appearance with The Black Eyed Peas during their Super Bowl halftime show. Slash, whose recent solo album featured the Peas’ own Fergie, would follow in a long line of legendary guitarists to rock America’s biggest annual sports event, including Pete Townshend, Prince, Keith Richards and Joe Perry.

The source, who is reportedly a person familiar with the Super Bowl plans, spoke on condition of anonymity, as the performance was meant to be a surprise. R&B star Usher will also join the performance, according to the report.

The Super Bowl will be played this Sunday evening and will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers seeking their unprecedented seventh Super Bowl ring against the Green Bay Packers.
