Today would've been the 85th birthday of beloved children's author Maurice Sendak, who passed away last year. In his honor, Google made this amazing, elaborate Google Doodle.

Long before 'Twilight,' these young adult authors were churning out sordid tales of psycho teenage killers, body-switching beautiful girls and revenge fantasies that also somehow involved final exams.
