Hot Air Balloon

One of the hot air balloons came within feet of our radio studios at the top of the Doubletree in downtown Billings...and then the pilot called into the show! "No Mav. This is not a good idea. Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower."

As the sun rises, families gather for a stunning sight: balloons taking flight and hearts soaring. It’s a nostalgic tradition that brings everyone together.

As of 7/17, around 80 volunteers are still needed for the Big Sky Balloon Rally held July 25 - 28 at Amend Park in Billings.

The 2nd annual Stillwater Balloon Rally runs Friday - Sunday, with most of the festivities taking place at the Columbus, MT airport.

Look for balloons drifting over Billings, beginning Thursday morning at 6 am. The Balloon Glow and festival is Saturday night at Amend Park, with live music, kids activities, food trucks and more. It's free to attend.

It was amazing when I got the opportunity to actually fly in one of the massive balloons this morning as a preview of the Big Sky International Balloon Rendezvous this weekend at Amend Park.

The event has been a "cornerstone in Billings" for a quarter-century and the dates for the family-friendly 2022 "Rendezvous" are now set.
