'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' is about to start shooting, though not all the major parts have been filled. The latest to join the cast is Paul Bettany -- who already voices J.A.R.V.I.S. in the Marvel Universe -- playing Vision.

The Daily Mail was the first to report the news of Bettany, which was shortly confirmed by Variety afterwards. In the comics, Vision was a synthetic humanoid created by the super-powered sentient machine Ultron to help battle The Avengers, though Vision would ultimately betray his programming and become a member of the superhero team. Originally, Ultron was created by Henry Pym, aka Ant-Man, but as Edgar Wright's cinematic version of 'Ant-Man' won't be hitting until after the release of 'The Avengers 2,' it's unlikely that Michael Douglas (who will be playing Pym for Wright) will cameo in the film. Though plot details for 'The Avengers 2' are still scarce, it's long been speculated that Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark will create Ultron in 'The Avengers 2,' and as Ultron creates Vision, it's possible some of J.A.R.V.I.S.' DNA will be in that character.

This is also a nice pay-off for Bettany, who has been involved in all the 'Iron Man' films and was in 'The Avengers,' but has only done voice work. He joins a cast that already includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, James Spader as Ultron and Thomas Kretschmann as secondary villain Baron Von Strucker, on top of the returning 'Avengers' cast.

'The Avengers 2,' officially titled 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron,' is scheduled to hit theaters May 1, 2015.
