The Station I Grew Up With
In 1961 KSHE sign on in Crestwood Missouri. It started out with a classical music format. During the 1970s and early 1980s, KSHE was influential in the growth of many midwestern bands like Styx, REO Speedwagon and Head East. KSHE had a wide open playlist, which popularized such rock artists as Lake from Germany, Stingray from South Africa, and bands from Australia and New Zealand , as well as playing the classics from the more well-known rock legends. The very first song played on KSHE in 1967 (I was 11) was Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit". KSHE is the Station I grew up listening to. Radio Rich is a legend to me!!! Oh yea the Pig's name is Sweet Meat! The first song I heard on KSHE was Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young. Had to say goodby to Hermens Herments and 1910 Fruitgum Co.
