Like many of you, I was somewhat familiar with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We've all seen the TV commercials or heard about it on the radio over the years. When I had the opportunity to visit the hospital last year in Memphis, it honestly opened my eyes in a way I'd never thought possible. It's truly an amazing place and what they do for kids fighting cancer (and their parents) is pretty incredible.

As we wrap up the St Jude Radiothon today (12/4), I thought I'd share with you some of my pictures from the trips, in hopes that it will help you visualize where your donation dollars are going when you become a St Jude Partner in Hope for just $19 a month.

In one of the hallways at the hospital, there is a wall of artwork (seen at the top of this story), created by kids staying at St. Jude. Patients and their families never pay for food while staying at St. Jude and your $19 a month Partner in Hope donation will purchase a food card for a week for a family.

You might think St Jude is a super sad place. No doubt there is some sorrow, but there is also an incredible message of hope throughout the entire campus. The walls are bright. The staff is amazing. There is a genuine feeling of compassion that is tough to describe.

"When All Hope Seems Lost, Keep Smiling." Much of the artwork drawn by the kids had a big impact on me and really put a lot of things in perspective. We throw a fit when a fast food place messes up an order or when the boss asks us to stay a few minutes late. Meanwhile, these kids at St. Jude are literally fighting for their lives and can somehow retain a spirit of gratitude. It really makes you think.

For privacy reasons, I wasn't able to take a ton of pictures inside many parts of the hospital. The Danny Thomas pavilion featured a lot of great history and information about Danny's dream to end childhood cancer deaths. The theme this year for St. Jude is "We Won't Stop" and neither will St. Jude.

What started as a dream and a small research clinic in Memphis has now grown to an organization with 1,000's of employees, doctors, scientists, and support staff, all with the goal to cure the sickest kids in the world. The research discovered at St. Jude is shared at no-charge to cancer hospitals around the globe.
