Would Montana Like “Slow-Checkout” Lines At The Store?
We've become all too familiar with the reality of low to no checkout lines being open in big box stores these days, with the hustle and bustle of our modern lifestyles... who has time to stand around and wait for Bobby to scan the items, and little Timmy from the High School to shove the items randomly into bags?
Take It Down A Notch
Now, for those of us constantly in a hurry, the self-checkout or checkout lines do just fine. Or, if you are a modern superstar, you just order ahead via the app and pick it up. But, what about those among us who would rather have a chat, like the old days, about things while your groceries are scanned?
Slow Checkout from Jumbo
This came across my Facebook feed over the holiday time, and it honestly makes a lot of sense. The original post is a photo from 2022, talking about how "Jumbo" (a Dutch chain of supermarkets) introduced "Slow Checkouts" for those who "enjoy chatting while paying for their goods".
Officially, the company has dubbed these lanes "Chat Checkout", and has now expanded that to over 100 of their stores, in an attempt to reach the "aging" population in their country.
What are your thoughts?
Should Montanans think about this option for their business? Should this be a thing for those who are older? Let us know on App Chat or Facebook.
