Following the announcement three weeks ago that two key members of the Allman Brothers Band -- guitarists Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks -- would be leaving the group at the end of the year, frontman Gregg Allman has more bad news for the group's loyal fans: It will stop touring altogether at the end of 2014.

In a new interview with Relix, Allman stated that he's ready to move on. “This is it -- this is the end of it,” he said. “Forty-five years is enough, and I want to do something else anyway. Everyone has their own real good perspective bands.”

Earlier this month, Haynes and Trucks released a joint statement announcing their departures from the band at the end of the year. “We will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the experience, and for the love, enthusiasm and support of the incredible fans,” they wrote. “We are both preparing to dig even deeper into our various creative and musical endeavors and, as a result, 2014 will be our final year as part of the band.”

Haynes, in addition to the Allmans gig, hold down a solo career and also leads Gov’t Mule; Trucks fronts the Tedeschi Trucks Band with his wife Susan Tedeschi. Allmann, meanwhile, has a couple of solo records in the works and a tour, as well as a new biopic scheduled to start shooting soon.

And the Allman Brothers will also be plenty over the next few months: They have their annual concerts at the Beacon Theatre coming up in March, and a new live album, recorded in 1971, out next month. Presumably, the band will also play a ton of shows before it steers off the road for good.

Still, you never know when they might hop back on. In his Relix interview, Allman doesn't totally dismiss the idea of some sort of reunion down the line. “Whose to say?" he replied when asked if we'd ever see the Allman Brothers Band again. "We may get together every five years and just do one play at a time."

Either way, it's probably best not to take any chances here. If you ever wanted to see this great live band onstage, 2014 is probably the year to do it.
