'Avengers 2' doesn't hit theaters for over two years but that doesn't mean we can't start looking forward to the biggest sequel in modern movie history. With 'Thor 2,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Captain America 2' all filming this year, a start of production on 'Avengers 2' can't be that far off and now we know when it will begin.

Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe gets underway in just over a month when 'Iron Man 3' hits theaters. It continues with 'Thor: The Dark World' this November, 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' next April and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' next August. And all those films lead directly into 'The Avengers 2,' which is set for release in May, 2015.

Joss Whedon is currently busy writing the 'Avengers 2' script and now we have word that filming will begin in January, 2014 in Pinewood-Shepperton Studios in England. The first 'Avengers' film shot primarily in Albuquerque, New Mexico with some additional shooting in Cleveland and New York City but both 'Thor 2' and 'Guardians' will be shooting in England and it's likely easier to keep some of the props and sets standing in one location rather than shipping them across the globe.

When 'Iron Man 3' hits theaters we'll get a first look at the post-credits scene, which is expected to lead into 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and perhaps hint at what we'll see in 'Avengers 2.' And then, of course, there's 2013 Comic-Con, which could include some big announcements as to what (and who) to expect in 'Avengers 2' when it hits theaters in 2015.
